Amanda Abdagic, 18, of Utica was named Miss Mohawk Valley 2013 during the annual pageant held Saturday (March 16th) at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School. Abdagic was one of 17 contestants who competed in private interview, talent, swimsuit, evening wear and on stage question categories. She will make appearances throughout the Mohawk Valley and promote her platform of "Say No To Bullying". Abdagic will receive a $1000 scholarship and will advance to compete in the Miss New York pageant to be held in Staten Island this July. Other placements and awards are as follows:

First runner-up and winner of a $500 scholarship - Tracee Schiebel of Vernon
Second runner-up and winner of a $350 scholarship - Rachel Demeree of Little Falls
Third Runner-Up and winner of a $250 scholarship - Emily Stegeland of Gloversville
Fourth runner-up and winner of a $150 scholarship - Lauren Crandall of Fultonville

Community Service award - Katherine Crandall of Whitesboro
Miss Congeniality - Lauren Crandall of Fultonville
Spirit Award presented in memory of Nicole Marie Dukerich - Richelle Reynolds of Rome
People's Choice Award - Rachel Demeree of Little Falls

This year's Miss Mohawk Valley pageant was presented in partnership with the VVS Junior FFA. The Miss Mohawk Valley pageant is a preliminary to the Miss New York and Miss America pageants.
